1990 Skybox
Country of origin: United States
Size: 2-1/2" x 3-1/2"
The premier issue of SkyBox was the NBA Properties’ attempt to get in on the basketball craze and was the first time an “official” branch of any sport became involved in the card market. Series 1 contained 300 cards and series 2 contained an additional 123 cards. In addition to base cards and NBA draft cards, there were cards of the head coaches and team checklists. There was also a 10-card promotional release for the set labeled “prototype” that was given to card dealers and press, along with a separate set of announcer cards that contained the same design.
